Ladies of the Reformation

The Reformation period was marked by a number of gracious women whom God raised up. The two Queens of Navarre were outstanding in the history of the Reformation in France. In Germany the grace of God shone in the life of Elizabeth of Brandenburg so that, though exiled by her husband, she was the instrument used in establishing the Reformed faith in Prussia. Here also is the story of brave Sibylla of Cleves who defied the emper Charles V, and Katherine the Heroic who held the terrible Duke of Alva at bay in her own castle. Other once famous lives are retold here as well as those of the wives of some of the Reformers such as Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, and Knox. Also included is an account of the martyrdom of three faithful Dutch women. May these accounts be made a blessing and spiritually profitable to both young and old. These lives have been drawn together from the History of the Reformation by J.A. Wylie and by James Anderson.
